x		Rudy Giuliani is visible as a prosecuting attorney above the sign “Press”, Bernard Sandow is on the witness stand, and Judge Whitman Knapp is presiding. A key at the lower edge of the drawing (hidden by the mat) identifies a dozen of the important personnel, but there are some twenty realized portraits. This trial was held in New Haven, Conn. Provenance - The drawing is accompanied by a photocopy of a note from Giuliani (dated August 10, 1987), thanking his legal assistant Joan Alexander for her "help and dedication" on the case.								x

x		In the 1970s and 80s, Dengrove was considered preeminant among courtroom reporter-artists for her ability to convey the mood and expressions of her subjects, rather than merely capturing a likeness. She worked for NBC news for 15 years, and wrote a book, My Days in Court (Wm. Morrow, 1990) about her experience.								x
